Why should you install an egress window?

Egress windows comply with building code, increase natural light & ventilation & expand living space

  • Fire safety is paramount: Egress windows offer basements an emergency exit, providing ample space for a fully-equipped firefighter to enter if needed.

  • Additional light and ventilation: Installing an egress window will fill a lower-level area with natural light, significantly brightening spaces that were previously dim and gloomy. They also promote better air circulation and ventilation in below-grade spaces.

  • Expanding your living area affordably: Installing an egress window and finishing a basement typically costs an average of 27% less than the expenses associated with building upwards or outwards.

  • Compliance with modern building standards: It's important to note that the International Residential Code (IRC) mandates a direct outdoor exit with at least a 5.7-square-foot opening for any living space, including workshops, offices, and TV rooms. Large basement windows, also known as egress windows help meet these contemporary building code requirements.

  • Boost your home's value by $25,000 or beyond: If you're contemplating selling your home, converting a basement room into a bedroom can have a substantial impact on its market value. Transform a cellar window into an egress window to make the room count as a bedroom.
